4. APPLICATION OF INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR AGROFORESTRY DIGITISATION

Use ‘smart’ technologies for monitoring through specific sensors, generating and analysing data to optimise the production processes of plots of land, in particular horticultural and fruit plots, to increase yields, improve quality, and reduce the environmental impact of agricultural production. The focus will be on the use of low-cost sensor networks, IoT, and remote sensing.

The activity is divided into 3 connected actions. The first action will be focused on the identification and definition of the experimental units (plots), the installation of the necessary sensors and the construction of the platform. The second action will be dedicated to monitoring the life cycle in three crops - olive grove, tomato and vineyard - by means of different sensors and the collection of the different data generated, identifying the critical moments in each of the production modes. The last action will consist of the implementation of a calculation of carbon fixed in the production units, based on algorithms generated through the use of the data collected in the database and satellite images.
